Devyn's Day in Court



With thoughts of her daughter heavy on her mind and hanging permanently around her neck, Shawn Burke brings the vial containing her daughter Devyn's ashes to her lips as the judge prepares to read the sentence for Micah Azbill, the man accused of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. For failing to stop after hitting Devyn with his car, and killing her, Azbill was sentenced to 12 years in prison, 3 years of probation and permanent revocation of his Florida driver's license.

Cigar Family



The hands of executive vice president Bobby Newman, 56, light a cigar for his brother, J. C. Newman Cigar Co. president Eric Newman in the stairwell of their Ybor City cigar factory. The third-generation family owned-and-operated cigar company was one of three winner of the 2007 Florida Family Business Awards. Judges picked J.C. Newman largely because of its philanthropic commitments: It's building a complex with schools, a medical clinic, baseball fields, etc., in the Dominican Republic, where most of their tobacco is grown.
